Intercultural Communication Trainer, Language Coach, and Poet
Kathy Ellis is an educator with over four decades of experience in international environments. Kathy's career has been dedicated to fostering intercultural communication and language skills.
Kathy provides ESL sessions tailored to the business world, TOEIC/TOEFL/IELTS test preparation, job search skills, and general English. Her extensive experience includes roles as a director of ESL programs, ESL instructor, trainer, coach, teacher trainer, international student advisor, undergraduate professor in the humanities, and elementary school teacher. She also co-founded SIETAR Atlanta, a professional development group for interculturalists and enthusiasts.
Kathy holds a Master’s in Education, various Intercultural Communication and Language certifications, and serves on the board for the International Language Coaching Association (ILCA). Kathy is a Qualified Administrator in Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI). In addition to her educational endeavors, Kathy has published three poetry collections, available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble and she has hosted a poetry column for interculturalists in SIETAR USA newsletters, collaborating with Craig Storti. Her work has received accolades from SIRVA, universities, language institutions, and writing groups.
Born and raised in small-town USA, Kathy was inspired by foreign exchange students who presented at her elementary school. This early fascination led her to become a high school exchange student in The Netherlands. Additionally, Kathy was influenced by her father, who grew up in a British household, and by listening to German/Dutch dialects by her maternal grandfather. These formative experiences ignited a lifelong passion for cultural exchange and curiosity, enabling her to learn two additional languages, live in seven countries, and travel to over 45 countries. Kathy Ellis resides in Atlanta, Georgia.
